Ericksonian Hypnosis

Ericksonian Hypnosis is a naturalistic trance where a client mindfully centers in a focused state of relaxation to achieve their intentions.

Clinical Hypnosis is very different from stage hypnosis, people are concerned that the hypnotherapist will control them to do what they want them to do (cluck like a chicken). That only occurs in stage hypnosis, in clinical hypnosis or hypnotherapy the therapist gathers information such as what relaxes the client, their favorite vacation or relaxing place. Then along with what they would like in their life; calm, relaxation, focus, emotional regulation, confidence, connection (rather than anxiety, phobia, grief) and clear goals and intentions the hypnotherapist focus the hypnosis on clearly defined future possibilities. Also every session is recorded and given to the client so everything is completely transparent.

In Ericksonian hypnosis we individualize the hypnosis to the words the client uses and how they would like to be feeling, thinking, and experiencing in their bodies and custom tailor the hypnosis to obtain those results.

Ericksonian Hypnosis is a strength based approach focusing on utilizing resources the client has externally, internally and socially to move beyond what they are currently stuck on in their lives or what seems to be holding them back form being all they would love to actualize for their lives.

Milton Erickson was a psychiatrist in 1901-1980’s who revolutionized medical hypnosis as well as had many students that went on to create therapy modalities such as strategic therapy, solution focused therapy, family therapy, Neuro-linguistic programming, self-relations, generative trance, and medical uses for hypnosis for birthing and pain control. He was a creative genius who healed himself of polio as a teen then was crippled in his later years in life. He continued to see the beauty in life and enjoyed life to the fullest and taught all his students and patients to do the same.  His students are prolific writers, teachers, and trainers for enhancing therapists skills exponentially.

Three of his students that now teach all over the world are: Stephen Gilligan, Bill O’Hanlon, and Jeffrey Zeig

In the last year I have taken 5 weeks of intensive training and supervision with Stephen Gilligan (I also studied with him for 5 years 1996-2001), 1 week master Ericksonian intensive with Jeff Zeig, and a week in person and 2 – 6 week on-line classes with Bill O’Hanlon. This intensive training with these master trainers and therapist have enhanced my therapeutic skills as a hypnotherapist and as a solution focused experiential therapist who gets results. I am very grateful for the opportunity to train with such amazing leaders in the field.
